Union Govt Refutes Lockdown Rumours, Ministers Issue Clarifications

Date:

TNI Bureau: Amid widespread speculation over a possible nationwide lockdown, the Union Government has firmly dismissed the rumours, with key ministers issuing clear statements to reassure the public.

Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri categorically termed the reports “completely false” and clarified that no such proposal is under consideration by the Government of India. He urged citizens to remain calm and responsible, warning that spreading such misinformation is “irresponsible and harmful” as it can create panic and disrupt normal life.

Echoing this stance, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also dismissed the speculation, stating unequivocally that “there shall not be any lockdown.” Her remarks reinforced the government’s position that the situation remains under control and does not warrant extreme restrictions.

The clarifications come at a time when rumours, fueled by global uncertainties and concerns over fuel supply, triggered anxiety among citizens. The government has emphasized that essential supplies, including fuel and other critical commodities, remain stable and uninterrupted.

Authorities have advised people to rely only on official communication and avoid sharing unverified information. The Centre reiterated that any major decision affecting public life would be communicated transparently, urging citizens to stay vigilant but not panic.
