Uninor Mobile “switched off” in Mumbai

Date:

Mumbai: After shutting down its operations in several parts of the country, including Odisha, Telecom operator Uninor was forced to say “good bye” to people in Mumbai today, thanks to the Supreme Court order.

The Supreme Court had asked all operators who did not win spectrum in the previous auctions to close down their services immediately. At least 1.8 million Uninor subscribers in Mumbai were affected by this sudden closure.

It’s really outrageous that Uninor failed to intimate its customers beforehand, which led to a lot of inconvenience. Although Telenor won spectrum rights in six zones during the auction held in November 2012, it did not bid for Mumbai zone. The company now operates only in Maharashtra & Goa, Gujarat, UP East, UP West, Bihar and Jharkhand & Andhra Pradesh.
