Two Arrested in Delhi for assault on Pak Diplomat

In a significant development, the Delhi Police have arrested two people in connection with the assault on a Pakistani Diplomat near Ber Sarai in New Delhi yesterday. The accused have been identified as Roshni Devi and Rohit.

According to the police, Zargam Raza, the First Secretary (Trade), was going to his home in Vasant Kunj when a motorcycle hit his car near JNU in Ber Sarai. Raza’s driver Haider Zaman was abused by the bike rider Rohit after Roshni fell off the motorcycle. The duo went into a brawl.

When Raza tried to intervene, he was assaulted by the accused. The driver also sustained bruises in the attack. The incident occurred at around 7:30 PM. Both of them were provided medical aid.

A case has been registered under Section 279 (rash and negligent driving) and Section 336 (act of endangering life). Meanwhile, the Pakistan High Commission lodged a strong protest with the Indian Foreign Ministry and demanded a thorough probe into the matter.
