Toyota recalls 1.75 million Defective Vehicles

Date:

toyotaJapanese carmaker Toyota on Wednesday declared that it would recall as many as 1.75 million vehicles worldwide in a voluntary move to address defects over faulty brake installations and fuel component issues.

The latest brake defect is found in some models of Toyota’s Crown Majesta, Crown, Noah, Voxy, Corolla Rumion and Auris, as well as more than a dozen Lexus models produced between 2007 and 2012.

Toyota will replace a rubber seal ring in the brake master cylinder to prevent brake fluid from leaking. If brake fluid has already leaked, the brake booster will be replaced.

In another set of recalls, Toyota said as many as 759,000 vehicles globally had a faulty fuel delivery pipe system which could result in a leak and increased the risk of the vehicle catching fire.

Last month, Toyota recalled 690,000 Tacoma pickup trucks in the US because of a potential vulnerability in the vehicles’ suspension systems.

Earlier in April, Toyota issued a recall of 6.4 million cars worldwide because of several issues, including problems with the airbag cable and windscreen wiper motors not working properly.

The latest recalls came to light after the shares in Toyota closed 0.2 percent in the Tokyo Stock Exchange at 5,990 yen apiece. However, the exchange’s Topix index gained 0.8 percent after the recalls.
