TNI Bureau: Putting all speculations and uncertainty into rest, TVK leader Thalapathy Vijay has finally crossed the majority mark (118), becoming eligible to form the new government in Tamil Nadu. Vijay secured the support of 108 TVK MLAs, 5 Congress MLAs, 2 VCK, 2 CPI, 2 CPI(M), and 2 IUML MLAs – making the number 121 in the 234-member assembly.
The decade-long DMK-AIADMK era has come to an end in Tamil Nadu politics, as Vijay is all set to take the oath as the new Tamil Nadu CM. DMK has already conceded defeat, with MK Stalin extending his best wishes to Vijay. “We will play the role of a constructive opposition”, he said.
Meanwhile, there have been reports of a split in AIADMK, as a large chunk of MLAs want to be sided with Vijay in his new journey. They are expected to meet Vijay soon.
