TNI Bureau: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Rajya Sabha MP Dr Sasmit Patra raised a demand in the Rajya Sabha for the urgent development and strengthening of railway connectivity in South Odisha, highlighting the long-pending infrastructure needs of the region.
Raising the issue before the Ministry of Railways, Dr Patra stressed the need to improve rail links across the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri and Kandhamal. He underlined that enhanced railway infrastructure is essential to support regional growth, improve public mobility and promote economic integration.
Dr Patra said improved rail connectivity is critical to ensuring inclusive development and equitable access to opportunities for the people of South Odisha, many of whom continue to face connectivity challenges due to inadequate railway infrastructure.
Reiterating the importance of the issue, he asserted that he would continue to press the Ministry of Railways to address this long-standing demand and take concrete steps to strengthen railway connectivity in the region.
