Rahul Gandhi in Trouble over ISI Remark

Date:

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi created a flutter yesterday at a rally in Madhya Pradesh, when in a desperate bid to corner the BJP, he raked up the Muzaffarnagar issue, but claimed that the Pakistan-based ISI has been in touch with the riot victims (Muslims) and wants to use them to foment communal tension.

rahul_gandhiRahul wanted to initiate the “Secularism vs Communalism” debate, but it served as a boomerang. The Muslim community has taken it as an offence and said it would create further alienation of the Muslims from the main stream.

While accusing the BJP of creating communal divide in Uttar Pradesh, Rahhul Gandhi said at least 10 Muslims youth, who are the victims of riots are being targeted by the ISI, which already initiated the dialogue with them. Rahul attributed this sensational revelation to one police officer from the Intelligence Bureau, who reportedly intimated him about this development. “BJP is fuelling the fire, while we are dousing it,” he said. Earlier, Rahul had claimed in Churu (Rajasthan) that many riot victims wanted to settle down in Pakistan.

The Samajwadi Party has sought proof from Rahul Gandhi over the allegations he labelled, as his remarks have put the Muslims on defensive. The JD(U) has also expressed its objections to Rahul’s remarks. Everyone wonders how Rahul knows about these things where as the Government of India, including the Home Ministry and Foreign Ministry have no knowledge about such developments.
