The man, who put the last nail in the coffin of BJD-BJP alliance in Odisha and triggered the downfall of the saffron party in the state, has made a big turn around and expressed his desire to form an alliance with that party. Odisha Janmorcha leader Pyari Mohan Mohapatra has ruled out any alliance with the BJD or Congress, but kept the options with Left and BJP open.
Cornered by Naveen Patnaik and BJD on all fronts, Pyari has made a last-ditch effort to reach out to the BJP. He has seen how the BJD-BJP alliance worked in Odisha for 9 years and played a key role in damaging the prospects of the Congress party. He may want to try that alternative again, but this time against the BJD.
Will BJP show olive branch to Pyari and get tempted to accept his offer. Can the party forget the humiliation of 2009 when Chandan Mitra was publicly snubbed and the BJD leadership under guidance from Pyari Mohapatra severed ties with the party, leaving it gasping for air? The time will tell.
