TNI Bureau: The Odisha government has extended the validity of Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC) till March 31 to ease inconvenience faced by vehicle owners. The decision was informed by Transport Minister Bibhuti Jena.
The minister said the extension was granted keeping public difficulties in mind. He also revealed that the licenses of 42 pollution testing centres have been cancelled due to irregularities.
To ensure better access to PUCC services, the government has appealed for the opening of more authorised testing centres. Priority will be given to applicants who apply to set up new testing centres, the minister added.
Clarifying on the green sticker issue, the Transport Minister stated that the sticker is not mandatory, but vehicles fitted with it will find inspection easier. Vehicle owners who have already obtained their PUCC can collect the green sticker from their respective Regional Transport Offices (RTOs).
The government aims to strengthen monitoring and improve transparency in the PUCC system while ensuring convenience for the public.
