Orissa High Court Orders Arrest of Two IAS Officers in Contempt Cases

TNI Bureau: The Orissa High Court has ordered the arrest of two senior IAS officers for failing to comply with its directions, issuing warrants against School and Mass Education Secretary N. Thirumala Nayak and Higher Education Secretary Arvind Agrawal in separate contempt of court cases.

The warrant against Nayak was issued in a case filed by Benudhar Das. The court has directed the police to produce him before it on the 22nd, while stating that he may be spared arrest if he complies with the court’s orders before that date.

Similarly, an arrest warrant has been issued against Arvind Agrawal in connection with a case filed by Tapan Pattnaik, a retired reader of Kujang College. He has also been directed to be produced before the court on the 22nd and may avoid arrest if he complies with the court’s directions beforehand.
