TNI Bureau: The Odisha government has issued a statewide alert ahead of the nationwide Bharat Bandh scheduled for February 12, directing all district collectors, magistrates and police officials to remain vigilant and take preventive measures to maintain law and order. Authorities have been asked to closely monitor the situation and ensure preparedness across the state.
The bandh, called by several central trade unions, sectoral organisations and banking federations, is expected to run from 6 AM to 6 PM. Officials anticipate possible rail roko protests, road blockades, demonstrations and picketing in different areas. There are also concerns about disruptions to government offices, educational institutions, banks, mines, factories and commercial establishments.
In its advisory, the Home Department has stressed the need for precautionary action to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure the smooth functioning of essential services. Special attention has been given to maintaining operations in Central and State government offices.
Copies of the alert have been sent to all District Superintendents of Police and senior officers to ensure coordination and swift response if required. With broad support from trade unions and farmers’ groups, the state administration is focusing on maintaining public order while minimising disruption to daily life.
