Reacting to the statement, Harichandan said Dubey’s remarks targeted a “respected and veteran politician of Odisha,” widely understood to refer to former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik. He described the issue as “serious and concerning” for the state, adding that it has hurt not just the public but also the Chief Minister and political leadership.

The minister, however, made it clear that Dubey’s comments do not reflect the position of the Bharatiya Janata Party or the government. “Whatever he has said is his personal view and has no connection whatsoever with either the government or the party,” Harichandan stated.

Taking a firm stand, he asserted that Odisha’s political and social platforms would not tolerate any derogatory remarks against iconic figures like Biju Patnaik. “We will not allow anyone to utter even a single disrespectful word about such মহান personalities,” he said.

Prithiviraj Harichandan also urged restraint, appealing to political stakeholders not to exploit the controversy for gain. “Our stance is clear. We request everyone not to derive political mileage from this issue,” he added.

The controversy has sparked widespread debate in Odisha, with calls for respect toward the state’s revered leaders cutting across party lines.
