TNI Bureau: The Odisha government on Tuesday dismissed rumours of a fuel shortage and assured citizens that adequate stocks of cooking gas (LPG), petrol and diesel are available across the state.
The clarification came after reports of panic buying and long queues at several fuel stations. Chief Secretary Anu Garg chaired a high-level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan to assess the situation.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Garg urged people not to believe in misinformation and said there was no scarcity of essential fuels in the state.
The meeting was attended by Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Principal Secretary Vir Vikram Yadav and senior officials of major oil marketing companies, including Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum.
Officials reviewed the fuel supply chain from refineries and depots to distributors and stressed the need to ensure uninterrupted LPG distribution, particularly in rural and interior areas. The government also warned against black marketing and said strict monitoring would continue.
To maintain transparency, oil companies have been directed to submit daily stock reports to the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department. District collectors have also been asked to monitor local fuel stations to ensure smooth and orderly distribution.
