TNI Bureau: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has alleged a conspiracy behind the large number of errors found in school textbooks for Classes I to VIII, saying the issue may have been orchestrated to tarnish the government’s image. He has ordered a comprehensive investigation and announced that all faulty textbooks distributed to students will be withdrawn and replaced with corrected copies.
A committee has been constituted to examine the entire textbook preparation and printing process, including manuscript drafting, proofreading, verification and publication. The panel has been asked to submit its report within seven days.
The Chief Minister said that while minor errors had occurred in previous years, the unusually high number of mistakes this year raised serious concerns. He warned of strict action against those responsible and said the cost of reprinting the textbooks would be recovered from the guilty if the probe confirms any deliberate wrongdoing.
