NYCA Celebrates Makar Sankranti among inhabitants of Bhubaneswar’s Jagannath Basti

In order to bring the happiness among the underprivileged the Niladrivihar Youth & Cultural Association (NYCA) has taken a unique innovative initiative by celebrating the holy Makar Sankrati Celebration among the inhabitants of the Jagannath Basti here today located on the side of the road connecting from Sailashree Vihar Jagannath Temple to Venketswar School.

In order to provide them a ambiance about the importance of the day leading a very miserable life under the rotten polythene without the basic needs, healthy food etc a team lead by its president Dr. Prakash Chandra Panigrahi has organized a function in the Slum and distributed Bleaching powder an phenyl for the safety of their houses, study meterials & books to the school going children, sports equipment & kite to the children, Makar Sankrati Prasad, Lunch packets, sweets, water bottle to all the inhabitants and provide enjoyment in order to not to felt them as deprived during this holy celebration.

During the occasion the members listened their grievances and assured to bring it to the notice of the govt. for the solution of the basic needs, permanent shelter & etc. The members present also took the lunch with the inhabitants and ask them to be in the main stream of the society and to participate in the functions related our culture and traditions. The 2015 Femina Miss India finalist & 2016 Odisha audition winner Actress Sonika Ray joined as the guest of honour and distributed the materials, members of the association Biswajit Pattnaik, Narayan Pratap Ray, Prakash Ch. Sahoo, Batakrushna Panda, Pradeep Swain, Kumar Barik, Sishir Moharana and others were present and cooperated in the whole programme.
