Maharathy to attend National Conference on Sustainable Agriculture at Gangtok

The Conference of Agriculture Ministers and Agriculture Production Commissioners of various States is being held at Gangtok on 17th & 18th January, 2016. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is likely to chair in the concluding session (18th January, 2016).

Minister Shri Pradeep Maharathy and Dr. Pramod Kumar Meherda, Commissioner-cum- Director, Agriculture Production will attend the conference as well as Sikkim Organic Festival 2016 and National Conference on Sustainable Agriculture and Farmers Welfare at Gangtok.

Union Minister of Agriculture Shri Radha Mohan Singh has requested Minister, Agriculture. Fisheries & ARD Shri Pradeep Maharathy to attend the conference. Minister Shri Singh has informed that Promotion and mainstreaming of Organic Farming, Operationalising the National Agriculture Market and reforming APMC rules and regulations,  Making Crop Insurance & Interest subvention Scheme more effective and Digitisation of Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies, Bringing convergence among departments under scheme of Agriculture particularly, Prime Minister’s Krishi Sichayee Yojana & NREGS, Making RKVY more effective for accelerating investment in Agriculture Sector, Management of soil through Soil Health Card and other interventions, Reforms in policy of leasing of land will be the issues for deliberation in this Conference.
