TNI Bureau: Suryakant Pradhan took three wickets in a crunch game, as Odisha defeated Bengal in the last league match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament to qualify for the knockout stage. Bengal too qualified for the knockout competition.
Odisha had beaten Tripura in the first match, but lost to Assam in the second. The team gained confidence after beating Jharkhand in the third game. Odisha, Bengal and Assam finished with 12 points each, but the first two teams sailed through on the basis of better run rate.
Odisha finished with a net run rate of 0.968, while Bengal secured the second spot with 0.959. Assam had to content with the third spot at a run rate of 0.036.
