TNI Bureau: A major fire broke out at a Super Mart near Lingipur on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar late Monday night, causing widespread panic in the area. The blaze reportedly started around 10:30 PM and quickly spread across the building, prompting an immediate emergency response.
Several fire tenders were pressed into service to control the flames, while firefighters worked through the night to contain the situation.
The operation was challenging due to heavy smoke and structural damage to the building, with cracks appearing in the walls. Authorities even had to break parts of the structure to prevent the fire from spreading further. The fire fighters are now using foam to douse the fire after failing to control it with water.
Power supply in the surrounding area was temporarily disconnected as a precautionary measure. Thick smoke and flames rising from the building created concern among nearby residents and shop owners.
Although no casualties have been reported so far, the fire caused significant damage to the supermarket and goods stored inside. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed, and an investigation is underway.
The Lingipur Super Mart fire has once again highlighted concerns over fire safety preparedness in commercial establishments in Bhubaneswar.
