Armed maoists on Tuesday blew up the block office building at Podia in Malkangiri district of Odisha by using powerful explosive. No one was harmed in the attack but all the official documents were burnt down.

Malkangiri Supertendent of Police, Akhileswar Singh said, a group of armed ultra including women caders, entered the block office building after breaking the lock. He said the red rebels set the building on fire brfore triggering a powerful blast causing complete damage to the structure.

A hand written poster from the site stated that the attack was on protest against the killing of Madhav in fake encounter, Silakot fake encounter and killing of Gagi Madhin recent past.

Padia block BDO Trinath Majhi said, the leftist ultras had earlier blown up the newly constructed office building in 2010. Since then, the office has been fuctioning in the old building. And now, everything is destroyred. However, the official work of the block will now function at the distrct head quarter, Majhi added.
