The government may hike the diesel prices by Rs 2 to 3 per litre and LPG by Rs 50 to 75. The decision will put additional pressure on the common people during slow economy. If the diesel prices will be hiked, the transportation charges will be increased and the country may witness inflation in the coming days.

The household will suffer a lot if the LPG prices will be increased as subsidised cylinders have already been reduced to 6 in a year.

Prime Minister Dr Singh hinted at the price hike while laying the foundation stone of Rs 20,000 crore BPCL-Kochi Refinery’s Integrated Refinery Expansion project at Ambalamugal.

He said that the fuel price hike is essential to meet the target of rapid and sustainable growth as India’s fuel prices are below the international prices.
