The forest officials and the commandos tried their best to tranqualize the tigress, but failed, as she turned out to be very aggressive, furious and agile. She tried to attack the C-60 squad. A jawan fired at her in self-defence, killing the tigress on the spot.

Permission to shoot the tigress was given on January 4, after she turned out dangerous for the people and domestic animals living in the area. She was under three years of age. The last time a tiger was shot in Maharashtra was in November 2007. The man-eater claimed seven lives before being gunned down in Talodi forest range in Chandrapur district.
