Ryder reportedly got into brawl with some people at a bar in Merivale, a suburb of Christchurch. The 28-year-old cricketer was brutally beaten up, which led to the disaster. The police are investigating the matter and also collected the CCTV footage from the bar.

Ryder was in Christchurch to play for Wellington against Canterbury in the semi-final of New Zealand’s domestic ODI competition. He and some of his teammates had gone to the bar after the match. He was supposed to arrive in India to play in the IPL 6, as he has been contracted with the Delhi Daredevils. He earlier played for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Pune Warriors India. However, everyone is now praying for his recovery even though his condition is deteriorating thick and fast.
