Huge Investment for Lord Jagannath’s ‘Nabakalebar’

TNI Bureau: The Odisha government will spend huge amount for Lord Jagannath’s ‘Nabakalebar’ to make the ritual successful, which will be held in Puri in 2015. All the measures are being taken in view of the occasion when millions of devotees across the globe will attend the ceremony.

The government will spend Rs 1000 crore on the development of infrastructure, transport and passengers’ convenience for the occasion. A meeting presided over by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday decided to invest huge amount on all the measures for the provision of drinking water, release of drain water in the city, expansion of electricity substations, shelter places, and sanitation for Nabakalebar.

As per the decision taken yesterday, all the hospitals on Puri-Bhubaneswar route and Konark will be upgraded. The Khordha Road-Puri railway project will be completed by December 2014. The Railways have assured the government to increase the crowd management limit to 1.5 lakh people keeping in view that Allahabad stampede not to be repeated in the country.

Also a new bus stand will be constructed at Malatipatapur in Puri. The parking places will be there on the NH 203 to avoid any unwanted incidents. The district hospital will have facilities with 100 beds and six-bedded ICU.

Extra measures will be taken up for the supply of electricity during the occasion. The government ordered to construct a 220 KV sub-station in Puri, 132 KV substation on the sea beach of Puri and Konark.

Also a temporary shelter will be constructed for 1 lakh visitors providing them drinking water and sanitation in Puri.

The CM directed the officials to take special measures for the tourists regarding their stay during the occasion. All the departments have been asked to complete the projects in time without any delay. The government directed to conduct the occasion peacefully and smoothly.
