Hollande visits Afghanistan amidst Pullout Talks

TNI Bureau: French President Francosis Hollande has arrived in Afghanistan on a surprise visit amidst the talks of a French pullout. Hollande reportedly discussed the exit plans with Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

France has already decided to withdraw its soldiers from Afghanistan by the end of this year. France has 3,400 troops posted in Afghanistan. Hollande was accompanied by Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius and Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian during the visit.

After taking over as the new President of France on May 15, Hollande has been busy in visiting foreign trips to set things in order – a positive sign for the country.
