Gujarat Congress “red-faced” over Malnutrition Ad

Date:

TNI Bureau: The Congress Party in Gujarat was left red-faced and brought embarrassment to the Central leadership too after it lifted the picture of a Sri Lankan kid from a UN website to portray it as the kid from Gujarat. The intention of the Ad was to show the state of malnutrition in Gujarat, it certainly back-fired.

The BJP has sought an explanation and apology from the Congress, alleging that the party has insulted the people of Gujarat. The Congress tried to put up a volt face and said that the BJP should focus on the statistics and real issues rather than the picture, which was just symbolic.

The picture was reportedly shot by a UNICEF photographer at a Sri Lankan refugee camp. Gujarat will go to polls on December 13 and 17. Counting of votes will take place on December 20.
