The victim was identified as Abdul Hakim. He was shot dead soon after entering the village along with his wife Mahvish and their two-year-old daughter.

Although the police claimed that it was not a case of honour killing, as all the accused named in the FIR did not belong to Mahvish’s family, the victim’s wife is not willing to believe this theory.

Mahvish had eloped with Hakim in October 2010. They got married and have been staying in Delhi since then. Meanwhile, actor Aamir Khan has expressed his grief on the suspected honour killing and demanded strong action against the accused.
