Odisha government has decided to build 55 new 100 seated hostels for SC students in 10 districts to provide them best accommodation for study. The decision was taken by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at a meeting of the Scheduled Castes Welfare Advisory Board on Friday.

The government has also decided to hike the post-matric scholarship Maintenance Allowance to Rs 1000 per month for SC-ST students coming under Group 2, 3 and 4 categories.
Apart from stipend, all the dalit students studying at Class XI and XII in ST & SC Development Department schools will be given school uniforms.
