TNI Bureau: While the entire country is outraged over the gangrape of 23-year-old para-medical student and demanding justice for her, another heinous act occurred in Bhubaneswar. A 19-year-old girl was gangraped while she was returning home from a melody show at a hotel on Wednesday.
The girl used to perform dance shows in parties to earn her livelihood. However, she became the victim of gangrape while she was returning home after the show at a hotel in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday night.
An FIR has been lodged at the Mahila Police station. It is alleged that one accused identified as Jatadhari Sahu (50) invited her to a house where four others were waiting to discuss about a dance programme.
The girl was gangraped by five and dumped at a place near Kalinga stadium. Police have arrested four accused Jatadhari Sahu, Biranchi Narayan Das Mohapatra (39), Subrat Das (28) and Sangram Keshari Pradhan (28). However, the fifth accused is absconding. All the arrested accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
It can be noted that like Delhi, Bhubaneswar has also turned into a rape capital in Odisha. In an era, when women have to be exposed to earn their livelihood, they are not safe at all.
