Two days ago, a 3rd year IT Student Rumisha Ramanika (20) committed suicide for unknown reasons. She hailed from Mahakalapada Block. While the college authorities attributed her suicide to failure in semester exams, her family, friends and student organisations have alleged mental torture by the college authorities, which drove her commit suicide.

In 2010, a male student of the Silicon Institute of Technology (SIT) in Bhubaneswar died under mysterious circumstances. It was alleged that he died because of poisonous food. But, the college and hostel authorities did their best to hide the truth. They also badly beat up the reporters, who went there to investigate the matter.

The reputation of Silicon is at stake today. The matter should be thoroughly investigated to ascertain the truth.
