14 Killed in MCL Coal Mines Mishap

At least 14 people were killed and many others got injured when a mishap occurred at the Mahanadi Coalfield Limited (MCL)’s Basundhara – Garjanbahal coal mines in Sundargarh district of Odisha. four people have been rescued so far.

MCLAt least 10 dead bodies have been recovered, while two injured have been sent to VSS Medical College and Hospital in Burla for further treatment. The police put the toll at 10.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the victims. In addition, MCL Chairman AN Sahay has announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh each for the kin of the dead. They will also get Rs 10,000 each for funeral. MCL will bear the expenses towards the treatment of the injured.
