TNI Bureau: Former Sambalpur MLA and noted gynaecologist Dr. Raseswari Panigrahi passed away at the age of 79. She had been suffering from neurological complications and was undergoing treatment at her residence in Sambalpur. According to family sources, she breathed her last at around 8:50 pm.
Dr. Panigrahi was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from the Sambalpur constituency in 2014 on a Biju Janata Dal ticket. However, she lost the seat in the 2019 Assembly elections. She was also the sister of late minister and MP Sriballav Panigrahi and had resigned from the BJD ahead of the 2024 Assembly elections.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep grief over her demise. In his condolence message, he said he was saddened by her passing and conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family. He also prayed to Lord Jagannath for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik also expressed deep sorrow over her demise. He said her contributions to public service, both as a doctor and as a people’s representative, would always be remembered. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of her soul.
Meanwhile, Bhakta Charan Das, President of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee, also mourned her passing. He said Dr. Panigrahi would be remembered for her dedicated service to the people and conveyed his condolences to her family and supporters while praying for peace of the departed soul.
