The northern part of Sikkim is cut off from the rest of the country. The main road between Chungthang and Mangan and the National Highway 31-A have been blocked.

Providing water and power supplies to the people remains the top priority for the administration. It could take a month or so to restore road connectivity. Rescue operations have been launched to trace the missing people.
