Fire breaks out at DRDO’s Complex in Chandipur

A fire broke out in ammunition depot of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in Balasore’s Chandipur in early Monday morning. It triggered explosions as it erupted in the magazine store of the Proof and Experimental Establishment (PXE) where shells and ammunition are stored for test.

The fire broke out at 4 am. However, no casualty was reported so far. Fire tenders rushed to the spot to control the blaze immediately. The entire complex has been sealed following the fire.

Officials said that the fire was restricted to the underground magazine store and no other facility inside the PXE complex was affected due to the incident. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
