TNI Bureau: The Union Budget 2026–27 is set to create fresh opportunities for Odisha’s growth and development, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said, highlighting the state’s potential to benefit from several key national initiatives. He noted that the budget reflects the Centre’s long-term vision of building a developed and inclusive India, with special emphasis on infrastructure, industry, and social welfare.
According to Pradhan, Odisha is well positioned to take advantage of major infrastructure and economic proposals outlined in the budget. Projects related to inland waterways, coastal and industrial corridors, and strategic mineral development are expected to strengthen the state’s industrial ecosystem and generate new employment opportunities. Improved connectivity through increased railway investment is also likely to boost trade, mobility, and regional development across Odisha.
The minister pointed out that sectors such as tourism, fisheries, coastal agriculture, and women’s self-help groups stand to gain from targeted initiatives announced in the budget. Special attention to tribal welfare and support for traditional livelihoods is expected to improve income and social outcomes in rural and backward regions of the state. He stressed that these measures could play a crucial role in ensuring balanced and inclusive growth.
Pradhan further urged the Odisha government to proactively utilise various central schemes and compete with other states to attract investments and development projects. He emphasised the importance of focusing on emerging areas such as digital infrastructure, innovation, and new-age technologies to accelerate economic progress.
With effective planning and implementation, the Union Budget 2026–27 could serve as a catalyst for Odisha’s long-term transformation, paving the way for stronger economic growth, better infrastructure, and improved livelihoods for its people.
