TNI Bureau: BJD Rajya Sabha MP Manas Mangaraj, in a post on his X handle, said that Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MPs on Tuesday staged a protest at Vijay Chowk in New Delhi against the police lathi-charge on students during the ‘Chalo Sansad’ march and later visited Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital to meet the injured students. The MPs enquired about their health condition, wished them a speedy recovery and expressed solidarity with them.

The delegation interacted with the injured students and discussed their treatment with attending doctors to obtain details about their health status. The MPs also urged hospital authorities to ensure uninterrupted and quality medical care for all those undergoing treatment.

Expressing concern over the present state of the education and examination system, the MPs stressed the need for urgent reforms. Manas Mangaraj said BJD president Naveen Patnaik was deeply saddened by the incident and firmly stood with the students. The party maintained that students have the right to raise their concerns peacefully and that their voices should be heard through constructive dialogue.

BJD urged the Government to engage with the students, address their grievances on priority and hold meaningful discussions on education-related issues. The party said protecting the safety, dignity and constitutional rights of students is a democratic responsibility and called for strong educational reforms and justice for the affected students.
