WarnerThe attack was completely unprovoked. Warner has already apologised for the assault and Joe Root has accepted his apology too. However, Warner was still punished and got the boot for today’s Champions Trophy match against New Zealand.

Warner was found guilty of breaching Rule 6 of the Cricket Australia Code Behaviour relating to “unbecoming behaviour”. He was recently fined 5,750 Australian dollars for breaching CA’s code of behaviour following his Twitter remarks against a couple of journalists.
