TNI Bureau: “You are the Boss”, said Congress Party yet again to Sonia Gandhi, as the Congress Working Committee (CWC) authorized her to decide on the President and Vice-President candidate.
The resolution moved by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee left the decision to Sonia Gandhi. It is not immediately known whether Sonia would consult the UPA allies or just choose the candidates for President and Vice-President on her own.
Names of Vice President Dr. Hamid Ansari, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee are doing the round. While Congress may go for one of these or another candidate, former Lok Sabha Speaker PA Sangma is trying hard too woo the political parties.
In this race to Raisina Hills, former President APJ Abdul Kalam, whose name was suggested by BJP leader Sushma Swaraj in the beginning, had falled out of favour. HE failed to receive the support of the Congress, Trinamool Congress, DMK, Left and Samajwadi Party.
