Classes to begin Ganjam Colleges on Nov 4

The Odisha Government has extended the puja holidays in all colleges across the Ganjam district till November 3. The classes will now begin on November 4. The decision was taken to carry out renovation and restoration work in damaged college buildings.

DSC_0791A huge number of colleges in the district were affected by Cyclone Phailin on October 12-13. The building, science laboratory, campus and boundary walls of the colleges were badly damaged.

Even though the classes won’t be conducted in the colleges, the lecturers and all other employees will be present inside the campus to monitor the renovation and rehabilitation work.

In addition, the Odisha Government has sanctioned Rs 5 crore for the Berhampur University for the year 2013-14 to carry out renovation and restoration work. The funds should be fully utilised by March 31, 2014. The University has been asked to submit a detailed report on the expenses by April 30, 2014.
