In a significant development today, the CBI summoned Saroj Sahu, a key aide of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in connection with the chit fund scam. Saroj, who is an Office Secretary of the BJD, has been working as the Political Programme Coordinator of the Chief Minister and was staying at Naveen Niwas.

The latest development has put the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in a tight spot, as Saroj was very close to the Chief Minister and ruled the roost at Naveen Niwas. The Congress and BJP created a ruckus inside the Odisha Assembly after the news of Saroj Sahu’s interrogation was flashed on the TV channels.

While appearing before the CBI, Saroj Sahu said that he did not know why the CBI summoned him. “I just got a phone call and came here. Not sure what they are going to ask me,” he said. It is believed that CBI will track the money trails in which Saroj Sahu may have been involved.
