TNI Bureau: The Centre has lifted all restrictions on commercial LPG cylinders and restored supplies to pre-crisis levels following an improvement in the West Asia situation.
The decision was taken after a review by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, which informed states and Union Territories that the temporary supply curbs imposed during the recent crisis would be withdrawn with immediate effect.
According to the ministry, supplies of commercial LPG cylinders will return to normal levels, while bulk LPG supplies may be restored up to 50 per cent of pre-crisis consumption.
The Centre has, however, advised commercial and industrial consumers with access to piped natural gas (PNG) to continue using or switch permanently to PNG wherever possible.
The government has also directed oil marketing companies to maintain records of commercial and industrial consumers and coordinate with city gas distribution entities to facilitate the transition to PNG.
