CBI to probe disappearance of Baba Ramdev’s Guru

Date:

TNI Bureau: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will probe the disappearance of yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s guru, Swami Shankar Dev, who has been missing since July 14, 2007 after he went out for a morning walk. The Congress government in Uttarakhand had recommended the CBI probe into the matter.

Swami Shankar Dev was the founder of Divya Yog Mandir Trust, which is now owned by Baba Ramdev. Ramdev’s aide Acharya Balkrishna had filed the FIR three days after Shankar Dev went missing. But, the Uttarakhand Police failed to crack the case, forcing the government to order for a CBI probe.

Baba Ramdev has welcomed the CBI probe and said that he would extend his full cooperation on this matter. He further revealed that he has submitted a memorandum to the President last year, demanding a CBI or judicial probe into the incident.

Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, a bitter critic of Baba Ramdev, had raised the issue and alleged that something was fishy in the disappearance of Swami Shankar Dev and more skeletons will crumble once the probe progresses.
