TNI Bureau: The much-awaited cabinet reshuffle is expected to be held on Sunday, October 28. All eyes have focused on Rahul Gandhi now. Will he finally accept the offer for a Ministerial berth or yet again avoid taking up high responsibility?
If we believe the media buzz in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi has already been offered the Cabinet Minister’s berth by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. But it is not yet confirmed whether he would accept it or not.
There is a growing pressure on Rahul to join the Cabinet so that the Congress can prepare him to take over as the Prime Minister of the country aftermath 2014 general elections. In all probability, Rahul will give in to the demands and pressure this time.
In the reshuffle, some Ministers such as Beni Prasad Verma, Subodh Kant Sahay and Agatha Sangama may be dropped from the Cabinet, while Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary, Tariq Anwar, Renuka Chaudhary, Chiranjeevi, Meenakshi Natarajan, Deepa Dasmunsi, Manish Tewari, Pradeep Bhattacharya, Arun Yadav and Pradeep Majhi could be inducted into Mamnmohan Singh’s cabinet. Young Congress leaders Jyotiradhitya Scindia and Sachin Pilot may be elevated to the Cabinet rank along with Srikant Jena from Odisha.
The Congress Party needs Rahul Gandhi desperately at a time, when it is fighting anti-incumbency, Opposition parties, unpredictable allies and a storm named Arvind Kejriwal. If Rahul steps in, it will rejuvenate the Congress leaders and cadres across the country.
