Budget Session of Odisha Assembly Begins

Bhubaneswar: The budget session of the state assembly began on Thursday with no opposition members in the House as they boycotted Governor Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare’s address.

Both the members of BJP and Congress walked out of the House when Bhandare began his address today, saying the speech was full of false claims by the BJD government.

The opposition claimed that Bhandare did not mention in his address about the abduction of Italian tourists and Laximur MLA Jhinna Hikaka. The high profile kidnappings for which the government had come under fire.

Bhandare stated about the overall development done in 2012-13 during the ruling BJD government in the state. He also talked about the law and order situation that remained quite peaceful.

However, the opposition Congress and BJP will try to corner the government over various issues such as decline in law and order situation, growing atrocities against women and farmers’ issue during the session. The budget for 2013-14 will be presented in the House on Feb 19.
