TNI Bureau: The BJD workers staged demonstration protesting the recent cut in rail budget allocation. They shouted slogans in front of East Coast Railway offices at Rail Kunj and Mancheswar in Bhubaneswar today, blocking the roads.

The agitation came after the Ministry of Railways cut Rs 60 crore in the state’s budgetary allocation for 2012-13. Odisha has been neglected by the Centre in railway and it is for the third time in five months that the state faced another jolt from the UPA government.
With cut in rail budget allocation, the long-delayed Khorda-Balangir rail will be affected. While the budget for Talcher-Bimlagarh line will be slashed by Rs 15 crore, Sambalpur-Talcher doubling project will be cut by Rs 30 crore.
