Bhubaneswar Records Coldest Night in 22 Years as Temperatures Dip Across Odisha

Date:

TNI Bureau: Odisha continued to experience intense cold conditions as the state capital Bhubaneswar recorded its coldest night in 22 years, with the minimum temperature dropping to 9.2 degrees Celsius.

Jharsuguda emerged as the coldest place in the state, recording a minimum temperature of 6.2 degrees Celsius at 5:30 am on Saturday. Several other districts also witnessed a sharp dip in night temperatures, intensifying the cold wave conditions.

According to weather data, Keonjhar recorded 9 degrees Celsius, while Balasore registered 11.6 degrees. Coastal regions also experienced significant chill, with Chandbali at 12 degrees, Paradeep at 12.4 degrees, Gopalpur at 14.2 degrees, and Puri at 15 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the weather department has indicated that a gradual rise in temperature is likely from Saturday night. The change is attributed to increased cloud cover caused by an active deep depression and enhanced inflow of moisture-laden winds into the state.

As a result, night temperatures are expected to rise slightly, leading to a marginal reduction in cold conditions over the coming days.
