Bajasal Dance from Kalahandi goes National; chosen for R-Day Event

Bajasal Dance Troupe from Kalahandi to perform on Republic Day parade in New Delhi

TNI Bureau:  Bringing laurels & glory to Odisha, a Bajasal dance troupe from Kalahandi district has bern chosen to perform at the 2021 Republic Day parade at Rajpath in New Delhi on January 26.

As many as 80-member Bajasal dance troupe of Prativa Bhawanipatna, led by Guru Dhyananand Panda, Chintu Prasad Naik and Debesh Singh will move to New Delhi on January 3 to start rehearsal.

Bajasal Dance from Kalahandi

The dance troupe is the lone team from Eastern India to be chosen for the Republic Day event.

Bajasal is one of the most important folk dance of Kalahandi. In this folk dance, the Bajnia (Instrument Player) play the folk instruments at the same time the singers sing the song & the tribal youth play this dance jointly with their special facial attraction.
