The self-styled godman, Asaram Bapu, who was arrested on sexual assault charges, will have to stay in jail for another two weeks, as his judicial custody was extended by 14 days by the District and Session Court in Jodhpur. He has been lodged in Jodhpur Central Jail.

Meanwhile, Asaram’s bail plea has come up for hearing in Rajasthan High Court today. Next hearing of the case is scheduled for September 18. Eminent lawyer Ram Jethmalani, who celebrated his birthday yesterday, is leading a team of legal counsels for Asaram.
If the godman fails to get bail from Rajasthan High Court, he will have to stay in jail till September 30.
