TNI Bureau: Climate activist and educationist Sonam Wangchuk was shifted to a hospital on Saturday after he had been on a hunger strike for the past 20 days at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
Delhi Police said Wangchuk was moved to the hospital following directions from the Delhi High Court after his deteriorating health condition. Doctors said Wangchukβs health had deteriorated due to the prolonged fast and dehydration.
DCP, New Delhi, Sachin Sharma told that no lathi charge was carried out against the protesters and that no one was detained.
After Wangchuk was shifted to the hospital, Abhijeet Dipke, founding president of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), started an indefinite hunger strike and appealed to supporters to continue the protest.
Meantime, Wangchuk urged supporters to participate in a planned march to Parliament on July 20.
He started his hunger strike on June 28 on the twin issues of education and matters related to Ladakh.
