Odisha Girl makes History in CAT 2012

TNI Bureau: Srotaswati Panda, a girl from Bhubaneswar, has made Odisha proud by becoming the topper in CAT 2012. She has secured the highest percentage to get admission at India’s most prestigious B’ School Indian Institute of Management (IIM).

Srotaswati cracked the CAT, the toughest entrance tests of the country in management, by securing 99.99%. She is among four girls who have scored a 99.99 percentile in the country. Three others are from Karnataka, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. A total of 255 girls and 1,640 boys have scored more than 99 percentile in the test. The CAT results 2012 were declared on Wednesday.

She is a final year student of B Tech engineering in instrumentation and electronics at College of Engineering and Technology (CET). She topped the CAT in her second attempt.

It was not an easy task to crack the test. Her hard work, family support and her teachers helped her a lot to taste the success. The BTech student was giving two hours a day for appearing the CAT. Mathematics was her favourite subject in which she has scored the highest marks in the test. She also secured good marks in English.

Now Srotaswati urges to study at IIM-Ahmedabad and join the corporate sector after the study. She loves to do painting during her spare time. Her achievement has also made her parents proud. Her father is a banker and mother is a homemaker.
