Date:

TNI Bureau: The Odia community of Bangalore recently observed ‘Chhadakhai’ in Bengaluru with much enthusiasm. Team ‘Nuakhai Bhetghat’ arranged the picnic where at least 80 families took part and enjoyed the Odia dishes there.

‘Chhadkhai’ is a foodie festival mostly observed by the people across Odisha. However, since a number of people from western Odisha live in Bangalore, they enjoyed the festival. The group has been celebrating the festival for last 3 to 4 years.

Usually, the festival is celebrated with preparation of non-veg items a day after Kartik Purnima – a holy month of Hindu calendar. The team in Bangalore observed it together at TALAKADU, about120 Km from the city.

“NUAKHAIBHETGHAT”, a team comprises 20-30 members, which is best known for their commemoration of ‘Nuakhai’, the festival of Paddy, amongst the Odia populace of Bangalore that they have been organizing for last 12 years.
